Warm week aheadPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- The Valley of the Sun is already living up to it's name in the new year. We tied a record for Jan. 1, when we topped out at 81 degrees yesterday afternoon under plentiful sunshine. What a contrast to Jan. 1, 2011. when we topped out at 49 degrees, the fourth coldest start to a year on record!
Fortunately, our warm weather pattern looks to continue for a few more days, with Valley temperatures today expected to peak in the upper 70s.
Look for sunny or mostly sunny skies over the next five days, with above-average temperatures forecast through Saturday.
No rain is forecast for this week, although a low pressure system may come close enough to Arizona over the weekend to bring our temperatures back down.
Overnight lows this week should stay in the 40s, with light winds.
