Mohave County deputy kills knife-wielding suspectPosted: Updated:
FORT MOHAVE, Ariz. (AP) -- A Mohave County sheriff's deputy in western Arizona shot and killed a man who he says charged at him with knife.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter said Wednesday that deputies responded to a 911 call Tuesday night from a man who threatened to kill himself and someone else.
When deputies responded to the Fort Mohave business parking lot the call came from, Carter says that a man charged Deputy Sean Watson with a knife.
Watson shot the man, who was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
Watson has been with the sheriff's office for more than six years and also is a police-dog handler. He was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by Bullhead City police.
The man's identity, age and place of residence were not released.
