MESA, Ariz. -- The inside of the Monahans' Mesa home looks like a tornado touched down Tuesday.

"It seemed like a dream really, something you would see on a movie set, surreal," Terrence Monahan said.

The father is shaken up by what could have happened Monday afternoon.

"She's just blessed," Monahan said. "Things could have turned really bad. For some reason she's still here with us."

The nightmare started to unfold when Monahan heard his wife, who was in the kitchen, scream.

"My wife saw the truck plow through the wall," Monahan said. "When she turned around the truck was right up against the sofa."

The couple's only child, Jasmine, 10, was pinned under the truck.

"I saw calm. I think she was more freaked out that we were freaked out about what the situation was," Monahan said. "I looked at her and kind of knew she would be OK."

Monahan is sharing his daughter's story to give others hope that true Christmas miracles really can happen.

"I'm just feeling blessed," he said. "I feel thankful angels were watching over her. She's a really special girl. It just wasn't her time."

The 83-year-old driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

A Mesa police spokesman said the driver possibly suffered from a medical issue Monday afternoon.
