Tucson gets unexpected income from unlicensed business crackdownPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Members of the Tucson City Council have been hammered with a lot of bad news the past few years. But Tuesday, they'll get some good news on the revenue front.
The city will reveal that a crackdown on unlicensed businesses and others have brought in millions of unexpected dollars.
About a year ago the city shifted around some resources to identify businesses operating under the radar and collect sales tax from them.
The efforts brought in more than $5 million in unexpected revenue over the past two years.
