Bicyclist struck by train in TucsonPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- A man died after being struck by a train. It happened just after 3:30 Saturday afternoon.
Carl Astrum, 53, of Tucson was riding his bicycle southbound on Ninth Avenue and turned eastbound onto Sixth Street, crossing the tracks.
He reportedly did not stop for the lowered railroad crossing arms.
Astrum was transported to the hospital and died from his injuries a few hours later.
According to Tucson police spokesman Matt Ronstadt, traffic investigators determined the accident was Astrum's fault.
