COOLIDGE, Ariz. -- Police are searching for a suspect who reportedly stole more than $70,000 in cash from a Walmart store in Coolidge.

A man entered the store at approximately 4:40 a.m. on Sunday and put several items in a shopping cart then went to the layaway area, according to a crime bulletin.

At 5:15 a.m., the suspect entered the back office area where he hid for two hours. He then held an employee at gunpoint and demanded money from the safe.

The suspect fled the scene in a 2001-2005 silver Chevy Monte Carlo driven by an unknown suspect.

The robber is described as a black male in his 30s with dark skin and brown eyes, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 250 pounds. He had a long goatee at the time of the robbery but possibly has changed his appearance.

He wore brown gloves, white athletic shoes, a dark "boonie" or "bucket" hat with a white rim, a brown hooded jacket with a design on the upper right shoulder, and dark-colored Dickie-type pants.

Police released composite sketches and surveillance photos of the suspect. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact the Coolidge Police Department at 520-723-5311 or Silent Witness at 520-723-6083.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
