Tucson families challenge community to fill the Food Bank shelvesPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Two Tucson families are teaming up for the $60,000 challenge to benefit the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.
The Lang and Peebles families have each donated $30,000 to the Food Bank.
They're asking the community to come together to match that donation.
The goal is to replenish food supplies depleted by increased demand.
"We're hoping that, Peebles family and our family, hoping that with this challenge grant people will step up make donations and then we match their donations," said Janet Lang with the Fill the Shelves Challenge.
"More importantly we're really helping the children. They don't have anyone else to help them now," said Jim Peebles from the Fill the Shelves Challenge.
So far the community has been able to raise almost $38,000 and they just received another $10,000 from the Diamond Center.
The challenge ends on December 31.
