SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Scottsdale police are hoping a surveillance picture will lead them to a car thief.

Police said the suspect stole a red Ford Mustang at the Shell gas station near Shea Boulevard and the Loop 101 at 4:15 a.m. on Aug. 30.

The suspect and at least one other person were in a silver pickup truck believed to be an '80s-model Nissan when they noticed that the driver of the Mustang left the engine running when he went inside the gas station.

The car was later found on the Loop 101 in Tempe after it was involved in a collision where the driver ran from the scene.

Investigators released pictures of the suspect on Tuesday. He is described as a Hispanic male, 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and 200 pounds.

Anyone with information on this case should call the Scottsdale Police Department at 480-312-5000 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
