Giffords office working to improve border cell phone servicePosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Some good news for folks in rural Arizona. U.S. Representative Gabby Giffords' office says it's involved in a bi-partisan effort to bring improved cell phone service to border towns.
Giffords' office cites poor cell coverage as one factor that delayed the search for a missing Cochise County rancher who was murdered last March.
The plan is to transfer $10 million within Homeland Security to fund public-private partnerships that improve mobile communications near the border.
