TUCSON, Ariz. -- Arizona basketball headed down to unfamiliar territory Wednesday night in Gainesville, Florida to take on a Florida Gators program that has won two national championships under Head Coach Billy Donovan.
All week these Gator guards could shoot. Mike Rosario had three treys as Florida built an early seven point advantage.
It was a big night for U of A's Kevin Parrom. He had 11 of his 13 in the first half including a buzzer beater that gave Arizona a one-point lead at the break.
Second half, Jesse Perry, kept hoisting the three. He made three. Then Perry showing he can take it to the hole too, giving the 'Cats the lead 57-50.
But the couldn't hold it. Patric Young had 25 off the bench and the Gators looked like they had it wrapped up until they foul Solomon Hill on the inbound and the refs say three foul shots. Billy Donovan was beside himself.
Solo, Hill makes all sending the game into overtime.
Where the 'Cats playing short handed without a suspended Josiah Turner ran out of gas. Kyle Fogg, Nick Johnson and Hill all foul out.
Arizona loses to Florida 78-72 in overtime.
