PHOENIX -- Winter is almost here and we've already had some very cold days. Unfortunately, many Valley children do not have coats to keep them warm.

The United Phoenix Firefighters Association as teamed up with 93.3 KDKB for their annual Coats for Kids drive.

Firefighters from all over the Valley are volunteering their time Thursday to collect donations of coats and cast. They've been outside Sandbar Mexican Grill at Desert Ridge Marketplace since 6 a.m., and they plan to stay there until 7 p.m.

Allison Alexander met up with Capt. Rich Bauer of the The United Phoenix Firefighters Association to get the lowdown.

While all donations are greatly appreciated, firefighters say their biggest need is coats for young kids, infants through 12 years old.

Desert Ridge Market Marketplace is located at 21001 N. Tatum Boulevard (Tatum Boulevard and Deer Valley Road) in Phoenix.
