Border news: Agents kill man near Sells; Marijuana found in abandoned vehicle

TUCSON, Ariz. -- A Border Patrol agent shot and killed a man Tuesday night near Sells on the Tohono O'odham nation.

The incident occured in the area of milepost 97 on State Highway 86.

Agents got into a struggle with an undocumented immigrant they were trying to catch.  The agent then used deadly force.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

Border Patrol agents also discovered over 800 pounds of marijuana in an abandoned vehicle.

The discovery was made by newly hired agents assigned to the Tucson sector Ajo station in the western desert.

Detection technology helped agents find the vehicle and 37 bundles of pot worth about $400,000.

No arrests have been made.
