PCC students hand out meals blankets and more in Winter Warmup eventPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- This holiday season was a little brighter Monday, thanks to some Pima College students helping out the homeless.
About 400 homeless received meals at Santa Rita Park park as part of the "Winter Warm Up" event. The social services students put on the event as part of a class project to help the community.
"We wanted to give the people something that they could use now, as in a warm meal and the clothes, and we want to give them something that they can take with them and that may benefit them in the long run, like the resources, the blankets, the clothing, things of that nature," said PCC student and event co-chair John Anglin.
More than 200 blankets were handed out with tents, sleeping bags and bicycles given away in a free raffle.
