MESA, Ariz. -- Mesa police are looking for a man who became angry and violent after he tried to buy a snack from a vending machine, but it got stuck.
Officers responded to a stabbing at a telemarketing business near Country Club Drive and Guadalupe Road in Mesa Monday afternoon.
Police said the suspect began banging on a vending machine after his snack got stuck and in the process broke the Plexiglas.
The victim told the suspect he can't break things and told management about the incident. Management returned and subsequently fired the suspect.
Sgt. Ed Wessing said the suspect went to his desk and retrieved a pen. He reportedly told the victim he was going to kill him then stabbed him in the chest with the pen. The victim suffered a non life-threatening puncture wound and was treated at the scene.
The suspect walked out of the business and dropped the pen in a nearby ashtray. He has not been located.
