Police identify Glendale man shot in driveway

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Glendale police have identified a homicide victim and are asking for the public's help to solve the crime.

Sgt. Brent Coombs said officers responded to a shooting near 50th Lane and Butler Drive just before 9 a.m. Sunday and found a man lying in a driveway.

The officers attempted life-saving efforts, but Arsen M. Abayev, 34, died from his injuries.

Family members told 3TV's Carina Sonn that Abayev went outside to smoke a cigarette when he was shot.

No suspect information has been released.

Homicide investigators do not believe this was a random act and are asking for the community's assistance in solving the murder.
