Former 3TV anchor Erika Monroe Williams stars in new reality show

PHOENIX -- Former 3TV anchor Erika Monroe Williams is swinging for the fences on the national scene in a new reality show.

She stopped by her old stomping grounds Friday morning to give Tess Rafols the behind-the scenes scoop on VH1's "Baseball Wives."

"It's the first time for me being on a show like this so I was really nervous, and I didn't really tell anyone [I was doing it] until the day of [the premiere]." Williams said.

The show debuted Wednesday night.

Many people think reality TV is anything but real. Williams, who has been married to Diamondbacks third-base coach and partial team owner Matt Williams for almost nine years now, said that's not always the case.

"What I'm doing is real, and I'm really proud of everything I've done," Williams explained. "I can't really control what the other cast members are doing. ...

"The baseball wives that I know are really conservative," Williams continued. "They're all very charitable. They're good moms. They're really good people and I was really excited to show that side of being a baseball wife."

Like Williams, many of the other baseball wives featured on the show live in Scottsdale so you'll probably see some familiar landmarks.

"Baseball Wives" airs on VH1 Wednesdays at 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.vh1.com/shows/baseball_wives/cast.jhtml.
