Several freeway closures for weekend construction

Before you head out this weekend, make a note of these weekend construction projects. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) says several freeways and roads will be closed or restricted for work.

*All Interstate 17 ramps to Loop 101 (both directions) closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 3) for lane striping work. Eastbound Loop 101 also narrowed to two lanes between 27th and Seventh avenues for lane striping and sign work. Eastbound on-ramp at 27th Avenue closed. DETOUR: Southbound I-17 traffic can exit at Deer Valley Road and I-17 northbound traffic can exit at Union Hills Drive and follow signs to connect with Loop 101 via 19th or 35th avenues.

*Both I-17 ramps to eastbound Loop 101 closed from 10 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 4) for lane striping work. Eastbound Loop 101 also narrowed to two lanes between 27th and Seventh avenues for lane striping and sign work. Eastbound on-ramp at 27th Avenue also closed. DETOUR: Northbound I-17 traffic can exit at Union Hills Drive and southbound I-17 traffic can exit at Deer Valley Road and follow signs to connect with eastbound Loop 101 via 19th Avenue.

*Southbound State Route 143 closed overnight between McDowell Road and University Drive from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 3) for barrier wall work in conjunction with Sky Harbor Boulevard interchange ramp construction. Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) ramp to southbound SR 143 also closed. DETOUR: Consider 44th Street as an alternate route to reach Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport or University Drive south of the airport.

*Westbound Sky Harbor Boulevard closed overnight between Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and 44th Street from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 3) for ramp construction. Eastbound Sky Harbor Boulevard also closed between 44th Street and State Route 143. DETOUR: Westbound Loop 202 traffic can use southbound 44th Street to access airport. Eastbound Sky Harbor Boulevard traffic can use 44th Street as an alternate route to depart east side of airport.

*Westbound Interstate 10 in the West Valley narrowed to two lanes overnight at 67th Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 3) for overhead sign work.
