Leach to Wazzu, ASU still lookingPosted: Updated:
Former Texas Tech boss Mike Leach gets a five-year deal at Wazzu that will reportedly put him among the top five highest paid coaches in the conference.
If that holds true, Leach's salary could be as much as $400,000 more than what Arizona gave Rich Rodriguez last week.
Leach left Tech under a cloud of allegations that he mistreated one of his players, the son of ESPN analyst Craig James.
He said last month during an appearance at Casino del Sol that he stand by his record in Lubbock.
"We won 29 games in the last three years. we had the highest graduation rate of any public institution. We went to more bowl games than the rest of the history of the school combined. My players never got in trouble. I've never had a major recruiting or NCAA violation or any of that," said Leach.
Leach led the Red Raiders to bowl games in each of his 10 seasons in Lubbock.
