PHOENIX (AP) -- A jury has reached a decision about whether to sentence a man they convicted of being the Phoenix area's Baseline Killer to death or life in prison.
Jurors began deliberating the fate of 47-year-old Mark Goudeau on Monday and will announce their verdict at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The jury found Goudeau guilty of nine murders and 58 other charges on Oct. 31. They also found that he was eligible for the death penalty after agreeing with prosecutors that the murders were especially cruel.
Goudeau already is serving a 438-year sentence for a 2005 rape connected to the Baseline Killer crimes. But prosecutors pursued the murder charges against Goudeau in an effort to get him the death penalty.
