Tucson headlines: Local man sustains sever burns in fire; Mobile home fire; Car hits pole

TUCSON, Ariz. -- A local man was flown to the regional burn center in Phoenix, after his mobile home went up in flames.

"He sustained 70% of his body surface area in critical third degree burns," said Capt. Adam Goldberg from the Northwest Fire/Rescue District.

It happened near Wetmore and Flowing Wells.

An off-duty officer saw the flames and arrived in time to see the resident, a man in his 40s, emerge with life-threatening burns.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Another fire on the northwest side after flames from a weed torcher spread into a mobile home.

It happened just after noon near Orange Grove and Camino de Oeste.

Northwest Fire officials say the dry weeds allowed the flames to quickly spread under the trailer.

The fire caused about $2,500 in damages.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- One man went to the hospital Sunday, after police say his car hit a pole.

It happened at around three thirty this afternoon on Stone and Drachman.

Police say the car was traveling south bound on Stone.

The crash held up traffic for a couple of hours.

No word yet on the man's injuries.
