Man hit, killed by car in PhoenixPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A 46-year-old man running toward his injured pet was hit and killed by a car Saturday night in Phoenix.
Police said Charlie Thompson had just learned that his dog had been hit by a vehicle. Thompson was running across 19th Avenue near Union Hills Drive to help his pet when he was hit by a 2007 two-door Chevrolet.
Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Phoenix police Officer James Holmes said Thompson was not in a crosswalk.
The 21-year-old driver was evaluated and no indications of impairment were found.
Police did not have any information about the incident involving the dog.
