Phoenix Magazine celebrates 100 years of Arizona

PHOENIX -- Arizona will celebrate its centennial in just a few months -- Feb. 14, 2012 -- and in honor of that, Phoenix Magazine is taking us back in time.

"This two-part feature chronicles Arizona’s rough road to statehood – the longest statehood struggle in the nation’s history – and 100 memorable moments in Arizona history, from skirmishes with Pancho Villa to the debut of the Wallace and Ladmo show," reads the Phoenix Magazine website.

Editor Keridwen Cornelius gave Scott Pasmore a sneak peek at the centennial issue, which features nearly 100 pictures, many of them places you might know, although you probably won't recognize them.

"It's very colorful, very exciting," Cornelius said.

Phoenix Magazine's centennial issue is available at stores now.
