PHOENIX -- Maricopa County sheriff's deputies said Christopher Johnson, 41, was acting erratically when he was arrested outside a bar in Mesa Saturday night.

While transporting Johnson to the Fourth Avenue Jail, deputies said he began threatening to kill Sheriff Joe Arpaio and reportedly described the area where the sheriff lives.

Johnson faces charges related to the threats in addition to his original charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Since taking office more than 20 years ago, Arpaio has reportedly received numerous threats against his life.
