CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Chandler police arrested a Basha High School teacher following a report of sexual abuse involving two female students.

Ricardo Moreno, 51, is accused of inappropriately touching the 16-year-olds while they were on campus Nov. 9, according to Detective Seth Tyler.

One of the victims came forward Thursday and told the school's administration that Moreno used her hand to touch the other girl's breast. Officials notified the school resource officer.

Moreno was arrested on two counts of sexual abuse.

Chandler Unified School District officials said Moreno has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the police investigation.

This is Moreno's first year at Basha High where he teaches sports medicine classes and is an athletic trainer. District officials said Moreno had previously taught at other Valley schools and came well regarded.
