Weekend weather perfect for eventsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- If you've got outdoor plans this weekend, you're in luck. The weather is going to be picture perfect in the Valley of the Sun, with slightly below average temperatures bringing mild afternoons.
Look for highs in the mid 70s today under partly sunny skies, and low 70s both Saturday and Sunday. Those clouds will continue to stream into the state for a partly sunny weekend, but we should stay dry until Monday, when a storm brings us a 30-percent chance of showers.
For the Arizona State vs. Arizona football game Saturday night, fans can expect temperatures in the 60s under partly cloudy skies. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Sun Devil Stadium.
Good weather is also forecast for the first Arizona Balloon Classic. The event takes place today through Sunday at Wild Horse Pass at 48th Street and North Loop Road just south of the Valley. Tickets are $10 at the gate. Donate non-perishable food at ticket window for $3 off admission. For complete calendar of events and ticketing, log onto www.azballoonclassic.com.
You won't have to bundle up if you head out to the annual Gilbert Days Parade. Temperatures should be in the 50s and 60s for the annual tradition, which begins at 9 a.m. in historic downtown Gilbert. The parade route lines Gilbert Road between Juniper and Elliot. Bring a lawn chair and catch a free shuttle bus service from Gilbert Town Square. I'm the parade's Grand Marshal, and I'll be bringing Greer along for the fun!
