Phoenix News iPad app delivers for locals

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX -- Last month, the Phoenix News iPad app appeared online at Apple's iPad App Store.  Since it's October 15 launch, thousands of iPad users have downloaded the free app, which is produced locally by 3TV News and azfamily.com.

Designed specifically for the iPad, the app delivers the latest local, regional, and national news in a 'flip-to-scroll' touchscreen format. Other features, include expandable, full-screen video and photo galleries, the latest sports coverage, live web cams from across the country, interactive weather tools, live traffic cameras and maps, and the latest local gas prices, to name a few.

"The iPad is revolutionizing the way people watch television and stay informed" said Jim Carr, Director of Digital Media for KTVK and azfamily.com. "[This app] is not only a great companion to our newscasts, but a way for us to deliver live, breaking news, as it happens to viewers wherever they might be," Carr said.

The Phoenix News app can also be personalized by each user, with features like adjustable font sizes, built-in social sharing features, and the ability to integrate your own Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Like 3TV's other mobile news apps, the Phoenix News iPad app is available for free at the iPad App Store.
