PHOENIX -- People started lining up for the 12:01 a.m. showings of the much-anticipated new Twilight film, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part I," Thursday morning, more than 12 hours before the opening credits could roll.
It the first half of the final chapter in a series of books written by Stephanie Meyer of Arizona. So much happens in the fourth and final book of the Twilight series, "Breaking Dawn," that producers decided to split it into two movies, a la Harry Potter.
Robert Pattinson, who also had a part in the Harry Potter franchise, returns as Edward, a vampire who falls for human teen Bella Swan.Not only is Edward in love with her, he's determined that she hang on to her humanity as long as possible.
This movies starts with a wedding that's the culmination of an epic romance, and it's not long before a supernatural baby is on the way.
While the wedding is a major plot point in the series, something that his character really wanted, and the cornerstone of the advertising for the movie, Pattinson didn't get all misty-eyed about it.
"Maybe I'm just not very sentimental," he said with a laugh. "I never thought about the wedding as being the biggest part [of the story]. When I read the script I was like, "Yeah, so they get married ... so what happens next?'
"I keep seeing the commercials and stuff and it's like 'The Wedding.' You're going to see them get married," he continued with a laugh.
"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part I" is rated PG-13.
