CHANDLER, Ariz. -- A Chandler woman claims it was self-defense when she stabbed her husband with a sword.

Pamela Jean Haas, 63, told police her husband punched her several times in the head and stomach because she wouldn't give him the car keys on Sunday.

She said she grabbed the sword off the wall to defend herself but didn't mean to stab him.

The victim received a wound on his left arm.

The Fire Department couldn't find any visible marks on Haas' head or stomach initially but later a red mark and a small bruise on her stomach were observed.

According to court documents, her husband denies hitting her and said she was mad because he planned on leaving her.

Haas was arrested for aggravated assault.
