Public hearing on Rosemont Copper projectPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Opponents of the proposed Rosemont Copper Mine are encouraging people to voice their opinion against the project.
Members of "Save the Scenic Santa Ritas" and the "Rosemont Opposition Coalition" held a press conference Thursday to explain the mine's Draft Enviromental Impact Statement.
They've had about a month to look over the DEIS and say it doesn't have enough information regarding the impact of the mine on the environment.
In response to Thursday's press conference, Rosemont Copper issued a statement saying it has spent more than $20 million and taken nearly five years to develop information for the DEIS and it looks forward to hearing from the public.
You're invited to share your comments this Saturday at the U.S. Forest Service's first public meeting.
It goes from 1 P.M. to 5 P.M. at Palo Verde High School.
