5 Chandler students accused of threatening teacher
Santan Junior High By Jennifer Thomas
CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Five junior high students were arrested Friday for allegedly threatening a Chandler teacher.
Chandler police Detective Seth Tyler said the four girls and one boy were arrested after an eighth-grade teacher at Santan Junior High School was alerted to a threatening note being passed around her class Friday afternoon.
The teacher recovered the note and discovered that the five students had written about the methods they would use to kill her, according to Tyler.
The Chandler Unified School District conducted an initial investigation then called police.
Tyler said the five students, who are 12 and 13 years old, were arrested, processed and released to their parents. None of the suspects were booked into jail.
A county complaint has been issued against the five suspects charging them each with one count of threatening and intimidating. All five students are subject to school discipline.
The Chandler Unified School District advised parents about the incident.
