Danny's Family Car Wash hosts fundraiser for fallen officer's family

PEORIA, Ariz. -- You can get your car washed for free until 1 p.m. Tuesday at a fundraiser benefiting the family of Officer Brad Jones, the Glendale policeman who was shot and killed in the line of duty on Oct. 29.

Thousands turned out to pay their last respects when Jones, 26, was laid to rest Friday. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.

On Tuesday, as it has in the past, Danny's Family Car Wash teamed up with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Memorial Fund to raise money for Jones' family.

For a donation of your choice, you can get your car washed for free at the Danny's Family Car Wash at 8369 W. Bell Road, Peoria.

Shortly before 10 a.m., dozens of people had already lined up.

LeRoy Schneider, chairman of the MCSO Memorial Fund, said the team hoped to wash about 400 cars and raise between $20,000 and $25,000 for the Jones family. All of the proceeds from the car wash will be donated to the Jones family.

In addition to the money raised by the car wash, the Sheriff's Memorial Fund, which was established in 1997, will make an additional donation of $25,000.

If you can't make it to the car wash, a memorial fund has been established for Jones' family. The account number for the Bradley Jones Memorial Fund at Arizona Federal Credit Union is 822633. You also may contribute to the 100 Club of Arizona, which supports the families of officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty.
