Tempe firefighters make boy's dream come truePosted: Updated:
TEMPE, Ariz. -- It's Alexis Maldanado dream to be a firefighter. On Sunday, a group of Tempe and Phoenix firefighters made his wish a reality.
The 11-year-old suffers from a rare genetic disease called Fanconi anemia, but that didn't stop him from becoming an honorary firefighter for a day.
Alexis got his own gear, including a helmet with his name on it. He also got to ride on a fire truck and even went up in the basket of a ladder truck.
Marie Saavedra reports.
