Man shot in Phx alley refuses to cooperate with policePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Police trying to piece together events leading up to a shooting that landed a man in the hospital early Friday morning.
It started with a 911 call from a man who said he had been shot in an alley near Interstate 17 and Bell Road.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found that man. The details of the situation, however, remain elusive because the man refused to tell the responding officers what happened.
The man, who has not been identified, was hit in the abdomen. He was transported to a local hospital, but his condition was not immediately available.
Investigators continued to scour the scene for evidence that might help them determine who the man is, how he came to be in the alley and who shot him.
They're not sure if the shooting might have been drug related or if perhaps the man was attempting to break into a home and was shot by a homeowner.
Officers said they found a blood trail in the alley where they came upon the wounded man. They were checking homes in the area to see if there was evidence of an attempted break-in somewhere.
They were also checking the alley in case the shooting had nothing to do with an attempted burglary.
There are no witnesses so far, but officers were going door to door and talking to residents to see if anybody saw or heard anything.
