Gilbert PD searching for man who grabbed teen girl in broad daylightPosted: Updated:
GILBERT, Ariz. -- Police need your help to find a man they say tried to grab a teenage girl in the middle of the afternoon.
The 16-year-old says she was walking along the lakefront in the Islands subdivision at around 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24. That's when she says she heard a car pull up next to her. A man got out of the car and approached her and offered her a ride in the truck.
She said no and tried to walk away, but she says the man grabbed her and pushed her toward his truck. She was able to break free and run. She says she heard him get back in the car and drive off.
The teen described her attacker as a black man in his late 30s or early 40s, 6 feet' tall with a medium build. He has short black hair with stubble and what she described as dirty teeth and nails. She says he was driving a white Chevy pickup truck.
Neighbors say they'll be keeping an eye out.
"We'll certainly keep our eyes open," said neighbor Nick Calvi. "We're on the corner here so we do see a lot of the vehicles coming in and out of the subdivision and around by the lake where that happened. We'll certainly keep our eyes open and try to help out; do whatever we can."
Gilbert police ask anyone with any information call the department 480-503-6500, especially if this description rings a bell.
