PHOENIX (AP) -- A Chandler woman has been sentenced to 10 years' probation in a child abuse case.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 23-year-old Nicci Paige Rounsaville also was ordered by a judge Thursday to pay almost $2,400 restitution.
Rounsaville was arrested May 7 after trying to steal items from a Chandler store and fleeing with her young son.
Employees say the child bumped his head on a doorway as Rounsaville ran out of the store.
Authorities say video surveillance showed Rounsaville running to a car parked in the handicapped section, putting the toddler in the front passenger seat without restraint and backing into another vehicle.
Police searched her vehicle and found a stash of marijuana.
Rounsaville pleaded guilty in August to child abuse and a misdemeanor charge of possession or use of marijuana.
