Tucson headlines: La Canada widening; Biomedical Research Poster Forum at U of A

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Prep work was under way for the La Canada widening project Wednesday morning.

Utility companies will be digging up power poles from Ina to River and relocating them ahead of construction of the road improvement project on La Canada.

Construction is expected to start in the spring of 2012 and its estimated to be completed by the summer of 2014.

Researchers were on hand discussing their work in the field of medicine at the Seventh Annual Frontiers in Biomedical Research Poster Forum.

The posters displayed their key discoveries.

"I think its a real great venue for everyone to find out what everyone else its doing and the young people specially can come and see what the big researches teams are doing," said Deputy Dean for Research Ann Cress.

The Arizona Health Science Center is nationally noted for its research.

The forum promotes collaborations among researchers who may never meet.
