MARICOPA, Ariz. -- Maricopa police are looking for a man they say ordered a Quizno's employee into a cooler then robbed the restaurant.

Police responded to an armed robbery at the Quizno's near John Wayne Parkway and Smith Enke Road at approximately 9:40 p.m. Sunday.

Police said an unknown suspect came to the front door after closing and was let into the restaurant by an employee.

The employee told police that earlier in the week an individual responded to an advertisement the employee placed regarding store items for sale and scheduled a showing of those items after the store closed on Sunday.

While inside the restaurant, the suspect brandished a weapon, described only as a black gun with a flat top, and ordered the employee into the cooler. The suspect took an undetermined amount of cash from the store safe and miscellaneous store items then fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The suspect was described as a white male with short blond hair, 30 to 35 years old, approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall and 200 pounds. He was wearing a dark T-shirt and jeans.

The employee sustained a minor contusion during the incident, which did not require medical attention.

The incident is still under investigation and the Police Department is requesting anyone with information contact the department at 520-316-6800 or the Silent Witness Hotline at 520-316-6900.
