Phoenix police investigate 3 fatal collisionsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Police Department is investigating three fatal collisions.
Sgt. Tommy Thompson said a man in his 20s was crossing Cave Creek Road mid-block near Bell Road when he was struck by a southbound Chevrolet Tahoe shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday.
The man died at the scene. His name has not been released.
According to Thompson, the 31-year-old woman driving the Tahoe was not believed to have been impaired, but it is unknown about the pedestrian at this time.
The driver was not injured.
A motorcyclist was killed in the area of Cave Creek Road and Union Hills Drive at about 1 a.m. Sunday.
Thompson said Hailey B. McElroy, 24, left the roadway for unknown reasons and hit a pole. She was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.
It is not known if impairment was a factor.
In a third incident, a 51-year-old man was killed near 44th Street and McDowell Road at approximately 6:15 a.m. Sunday.
Thompson said LaMark Mervin Klatt was lying or sitting on the street when he was hit by a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling westbound on McDowell Road.
Klatt died at the scene. The driver was not injured.
It does not appear that the 28-year-old driver of the truck was impaired, but Thompson said it appears that Klatt had been drinking.
Police continue to investigate all three incidents.
