$200K price tag on Occupy Phoenix so farPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX, Ariz. -- As Occupy Phoenix heads into its third week Saturday, the Phoenix Police Department says patrolling costs so far have totaled about $204,000.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Trent Crump said most of that cost was incurred during the demonstration's first weekend.
During that first weekend hundreds of demonstrators gathered downtown as part of the bigger Occupy Wall Street national movement.
On Thursday night demonstrators held a candlelit vigil and moment of silence in honor of Scott Olsen, an Iraq war veteran injured Tuesday when demonstrators clashed with police at Occupy Oakland in California.
Olsen, a former U.S. Marine, suffered a head injury when police lobbed what appeared to be a tear gas canister in his direction. He is currently listed in fair condition in the intensive care unit of a California hospital.
