MESA, Ariz. -- Police are searching for three Hispanic men who broke into a Mesa home and held a man and two children at gunpoint while demanding cash.

The suspects were wearing masks when they entered through the back door of the home near Gilbert and Broadway roads at approximately 8 p.m. Tuesday, according to Mesa police Detective Steve Berry.

The suspect ordered two children, ages 6 and 10, and their uncle to the ground.

Berry said the suspects hit the uncle on the head several times with a pistol and told him in Spanish to show them where the money was.

The suspects ransacked the master bedroom looking for money then fled out the back door without any cash.

The children's father, who was in another room of the home, took the kids to a neighbor's house and called 911.

The uncle was not seriously injured.

It's unclear why the suspects targeted the home.
