Boy taken to hospital had methadone in systemPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- A 2-year-old boy who was rushed from a Phoenix hotel to a hospital after he stopped breathing had methadone in his system.
Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos says someone gave the drug to the child after he complained of pain in his gums and teeth.
Martos says the child was revived after he was taken to the hospital on Sunday and his prognosis looks good.
Police declined to say who is believed to have given the drug to the 2-year-old.
The boy's mother had two other children, ages 3 and 4, inside the hotel room.
Martos declined to say whether two other children were given drugs.
The 3- and 4-year-olds are now in Child Protective Services custody, while the 2-year-old remains at the hospital.
No arrests have been made.
