CHANDLER, Ariz. -- A Chandler neighborhood is back on alert after a man reportedly chased a 9-year-old boy who was walking home from school on Wednesday.

It happened near Ray and Alma School roads.

The boy is a student at Hartford Elementary School. He said he was about a block from the school when a man came out of an alley and began chasing him.

Police said the boy yelled and screamed as the man came after him. The suspect ran to his pickup truck and left the area as soon as another car started driving down Sunset Drive. The boy was not injured.

Not many details are available at this point, but the boy said the suspect, a Hispanic man, was wearing all black, including a black hat with ruffles on the top.

Investigators said they are working with the boy to create a composite sketch of the suspect.

The larger concern is that there are some similarities between Wednesday's attempted abduction and cases from earlier this year.

There have been at least three such incidents in the area of Hartford Elementary since the beginning of the school year.

Each time, the victims described the suspect as a Hispanic man, but police have not definitively connected the individual cases.
