UCLA facing crucial game against ArizonaPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- The University of Arizona fired its football coach after its season careened out of control -- and could put another coach's job on the line with a win Thursday night.
UCLA, at 3-3 and 2-1 in the Pac-12, heads to the desert teetering between a potential turnaround and another disappointing season.
Coach Rick Neuheisel was already in a bit of hot water before the season and a loss to the struggling Wildcats could make things worse. UCLA will be playing with new quarterback Kevin Prince, who replaced Richard Brehaut after he was injured last week.
Arizona fired coach Mike Stoops on Oct. 10 coming off 10 consecutive losses to FBS opponents.
This will be Arizona's first game under interim coach Tim Kish, the defensive coordinator under Stoops.
