Valley nurse ran 100 miles to help children in AfricaPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A Valley nurse recently ran 100 miles not only to achieve her own fitness goals, but also to help provide clean water for children in Africa.
Hanna Covert, a nurse at Banner Good Samaritan hospital, teamed up with three other people from Team World Vision in Chicago.
They started at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and ran through the night, eventually meeting up with the Chicago Marathon runners. They finished their 100 miles nearly 24 hours later.
One of Covert's teammates is still in ICU at a Chicago hospital. Covert, herself, had some medical issues after the intense run, but she has returned to Phoenix and stopped by 3TV Wednesday morning to share her incredible experience with Kaley O'Kelley.
