This is fall?Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Temperatures topped out in the upper 90s all weekend, more than 10 degrees above normal.
Desert dwellers who are sick of sizzling, and yearning for fall will get a bit of relief this week, although not for a couple more days.
As a strong ridge of high pressure sits over the Southwest, the jet stream and storm track stays to our north. Expect nothing but sunshine and warm days this week, although overnight lows will still dip to the 60s, and even upper 50s in outlying areas.
A system passing to our north midweek will flatten the ridge of high pressure a bit, bringing afternoon temperatures from the upper 90s down a couple degrees to the mid 90s, and eventually the low 90s by next weekend.
The average high for this time of year is in the upper 80s, but at least we're heading in the right direction.
There is no rain in the forecast for at least the next seven days.
