PHOENIX -- A Valley bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run collision last month and Phoenix police are searching for a man they believe was involved.

James Charles Blanks, 45, was hit Sept. 24 near 83rd Avenue and Camelback Road in Phoenix. He died the following day.

According to Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson, Blanks was riding his bicycle across the street mid-block when a vehicle left a nearby Circle K and hit him. The car then fled the scene.

The vehicle was described as a white or silver four-door passenger car with tinted windows.

Police released surveillance pictures of a man they are trying to identify. Thompson said detectives want to talk to him to determine what exactly his involvement in the case may have been.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call the Phoenix Police Department Violent Crimes Bureau at 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
