Tucson crime report: Arrest in missing Marana man; Charge in rape of 93-year-old woman; Ktten torture

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Sheriff's deputies believe human remains found Wednesday in the Picture Rocks area are from a Marana man missing since May.

Thursday, detectives from the sheriff's homicide unit arrested a man in connection with the murder of Todd Mike Whitzel, whose family reported him missing months ago.

Nick Phillip Rogers, 21, is charged with first degree murder in Whitzel's death. Cops are not saying how Whitzel died.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- A break in an 18-year-old cold case.

A man is charged with raping a 93-year-old woman in a Tucson nursing home in 1993.

The woman gave a description of the attacker and died several months later having never recovered.

Now Claude Ranger from Phoenix is charged thanks to a DNA match.

He was in prison from 2001 to 2007 for drug convictions.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- It's a disturbing story that will make animal lovers cringe.  Sheriff's deputies looking who people who tortured a small kitten to death and threw it from a car window.

The black and gray, two-month-old house cat was found brutally killed near Sunrise Drive and Swan Road in the Catalina Foothills.

Detectives think one or more teens are involved in this especially violent case of animal cruelty, and they're asking anyone with information to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
