TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Former Arizona coach Mike Stoops was an emotional leader, often screaming and jumping around on the sideline.

His interim replacement, Tim Kish, may be the anti-Stoops.

Calm and seemingly always cool, Kish had made it one of his goals to get the players to have fun over the second half of the season.

Stoops was fired on Monday after posting a 41-50 record over eight seasons and a 1-5 start this year.

Kish, a 36-year veteran in coaching, was named coach for the rest of the season after serving as the Wildcats' defensive coordinator.

Arizona has a bye this week before playing its next game, Oct. 20 against UCLA.
