PEORIA, Ariz. -- The Peoria Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying two males who attempted to rob an ATM/bill pay machine inside a convenience store last week.

Surveillance video shows a man wearing a full face gas mask entering the Circle K store at 75th Avenue and Cactus Road just before 11 p.m. on Oct. 4. A second man seemed to be acting as a lookout.

The man with the gas mask attempted to use a crowbar to remove the cash box inside the ATM machine, according to police spokesman Jay Davies. He did not succeed but did considerable damage in the process, leaving the machine turned on its side.

Neither man displayed a weapon.

A clerk and several customers were in the store at the time, but Davies said no one was injured during the incident.

The suspect with the gas mask is described as a white or Hispanic male with short dark hair, in his early 20s, approximately 6 feet tall and 180 to 200 pounds. He was wearing tan pants, a matching tan jacket and black work-style boots.

The second man had short facial hair and appears in the video wearing a ball cap and a red/maroon and blue jersey.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to contact the Peoria Police Department at 623-773-7045, PDTips@peoriaaz.gov or http://www.peoriaaz.gov.
