Get free medical tests from AARP Walgreens Wellness TourPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX --The AARP Walgreens Wellness Tour has come to town, which means you have the opportunity to get six essential health tests for free.
Valued at $100 per person, the six free tests include cholesterol levels, blood pressure, bone density, glucose (blood sugar) levels, waist circumference and body-mass index. Those tests can help provide critical information about your health, as well as a foundation for early disease detection and prevention.
The free tests are available for adults 18 and older. No appointments are necessary.
In addition to the free medical tests, you also can pick up a voucher for a flu shot.
The Wellness Tour will be at the following Walgreens locations in the coming days:
Oct. 13, noon-6 p.m., at 8911 N. Seventh St.;
Oct. 14, noon-6 p.m., at 1745 E. Southern Ave., Tempe;
Oct. 15, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., at 5101 W. Indian School Road, Phoenix.
"We are pleased to continue our effort with Walgreens to help provide important health tests at a time when many still cannot afford preventive health care," said A. Barry Rand, AARP's Chief executive officer. "The results from the first year on the road speak volumes to the need for these basic tests, and will go a long way in increasing the chances for early detection of chronic disease and other potential health problems."
Made up of nine custom buses, the Wellness Tour is making its way across the country. By the time it's finished, the nine team combined will have performed an estimated $14 million worth of free health tests.
